This is the official website for the Artist/Producer MadDoggBlue. It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve recorded new music due to a few different circumstances but here I am and here comes the music. I’ve relocated from San Diego, California to Southern Oklahoma not too far from Wichita Falls, Texas. Since moving to Oklahoma I’ve been able to quickly re-establish myself and to focus on my passions. My family, my music, and my dogs (MadDoggKennels) are among my primary focuses and at present ALL IS WELL. 🙂 That’s a tremendous blessing to be able to say and absolutely mean! Another of my focuses and passions is writing among other creative and educational pursuits. This blog will host everything MADDOGGBLUE, from music to photos and video. I’ll share my writings and post from my social media accounts here as well.
I stopped recording music and releasing songs for several reasons.. One was that I wanted to focus on. my efforts as a producer of original music. It has always been my goal to make my own beats and I have been making instrumental music independently since around 2007. My first professional purchase of equipment was a YAMAHA MOTIF ES8. With that board I produced several pieces of music that were not only up to industry standards, but also featuring my own unique style and flair. I’ve been refining my production style for almost 20 years since then. When I realize that’s longer than some of these other “rappers” and “producers” have been alive and on this Earth I’m proud of myself for continuing along my path as a musician and artist to reach the point I’m at today. I’m something of a perfectionist when it comes to almost everything I do.. however, I also suffer anxiety and depression issues as well and other mental health difficulties. As an artist I’ve learned to turn these “disabilities” into forces of empowerment in art and design. When I decided to leave outside producers alone and to make my own instrumentals that task was overwhelming to say the least because I was no longer able to primarily focus on my talent as a songwriter and performer. I spent years off and on building and rebuilding my internet presence and project studios. I had to invest serious time and money in to my goals and career as a musician with the hope of generating revenue for myself, my children, and my loved ones.
After several pseudonym changes and aliases I began working on re-establishing myself online mainly utilizing the Facebook and ReverbNation platforms. I erased over 100 songs and 4 albums and mixtapes from mp3.com and soundclick.com. I was also utilizing FP.com (Future Producers) and became familiar with professional producers including and not limited to DJ TOOMP, Just Blaze, and a few producers who got placements with artists like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Snoop Dogg. I was good friends with direct contacts to DJ QUIK, DR. DRE, SNOOP, KURUPT, LIL ROB, KODAK BLACK, DJ KHALED, and have been in studios with MR.SHADOW, KNIGHT OWL, OBNOXIOUS, and other well known underground San Diego artists. I dominated the underground freestyle and mixtape scene in San Diego for near to a decade and I’m familiar and have had battles and cyphers with artists like CEE WEE 3, GOOGIE MONSTA, AWOL, MONSTAR PUGH, DECIET, HAYWIRE, The PACK OF BLACKS, TKEEZIN, and many others.
In 2025 I’ve produced and released several instrumental projects and I’m working on a studio LP 100% produced by me. I recorded my first studio projects in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with DJ SLIM @Empire Recordings and SILLY ENT. DJ SLIM is an EDM/TECHNO/PROGRESSIVE HOUSE DJ and PRODUCER who is also fairly well known in Hip Hop, especially in Vietnam and produced the music for several films including SAIGON ELECTRIC, BANG BANG, and 14 DAYS. He was one of the first and last producers I’d work with before starting my own journey as a “Beat Maker”. DJ SLIM handed me a BOSS DR RHYTHM DR-550 and from there with a radio shack keyboard my production journey began. I used computer applications like ACID PRO, CUBASE, CAKEWALK, FRUITY LOOPS (FL STUDIO), and a plethora of other applications before I began using LOGIC PRO and LOGIC PRO X and then soon after that I invested in an MPC 1000 although I didn’t really use that machine at all. Most of my production was either done when I owned my YAMAHA MOTIF ES8 or on FL STUDIO then solely on LOGIC. Now I use various applications (DAWS) mostly LOGIC X, keyboard synths and workstations as well as a modern MPC unit and a multitude of VSTs and mastering suites to produce, refine, mix, and master my music. I’ve invested in monitors, headphones, cables, hard drives, computers, and various other gear as any true musician and producer does in their refinement and progress as a musician. All artists have to purchase supplies and mediums and then “do the work” to maintain their craft and work as professionals. Now days computers and A.I. have made things very simple and have saturated the market and made musicians and producers less of a force in music which is very strange.. however, real musicians still present and maintain the ORGANIC FEEL and sound of real music even when utilizing digital effects and instruments. Analog equipment is even more important in the modern age of music because the more digital music has become the less warmth, feel, and energy is communicated and translated in the music. Even digital and computer DJ’s cannot compete with the OLD SCHOOL VINYL D.J.’s when compared to the sound, feel, and dynamics of those particular sound designers. Lots of producers are “hunting down” and securing old gear to get that warmth and depth that is missing in a lot of music in 2025.
With all of that said.. WELCOME TO MADDOGGBLUE.COM!! I’ll be sharing music from my production company ELECTRIC DUNGEON PRODUCTIONS and ELECTRIC DUNGEON STUDIOS as well as music written, recorded, and performed by MADDOGGBLUE. I’ll share stories, ideas, and other original content here as well as the main source of my professional work. I hope you enjoy and support my efforts and an artist and creator on this website/blog.
